Phra Chai Ayutthaya (Phra Ngang Ayutthaya)

The ancient antique, which is a half-amulet, half-avatar statue that has been worshiped by the believers in many ways, has been carried by the owner in many styles, and has been called by many names. Nowadays, it is known internationally as "Phra Chai Ayutthaya". Assumed that this amulet was built during the Ayutthaya War. Therefore, it has a simple and classic design but, look strong and mighty like an ancient Thai warrior. Since ancient times, people believe that this kind of amulet even if just only the head, it still has the intensity of the divine power remained as full body. The owner can pray for protection against danger weapons, victory and mercy.

The god of Ayodhya, the immortal amulet of Ayutthaya, the graceful ancient bronze statue. Its skin surface is sacred iron that is very flat and thin metal like an eggshell. The inside of the body is the mystical solid soil statue. This ancient amulet is precious and magical as a legendary amulet which has old age, not less than 300 years old. In the era before the word "Phra Chai" was called, what this amulet is still a mystery. Many people believe that Phra Ngang is Phra Ngang. Many people believe that Phra Chai is Phra Chai. But, there are still many people who believe that both Ngang and Phra Chai are the same thing. As for what it really is, it depends on the beliefs, faith and consideration of each individual.

In the past, fighters and gangsters liked to carry this kind of ancient amulet with them because this amulet would help them to be invulnerable and prevent dangers from the enemy's attack and all kinds of deadly weapons. It is also rumored that the sharp head of this amulet could be used as a weapon in the fight against the invulnerable body skin.

There are many stories in the southern part of Thailand that even foreigners from Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia also seek this amulet. They may not want to know what this is, they may not have to search where this amulet came from due to different languages. So, when they want some powerful amulets, they will mainly focus on the magic power of an amulet that they are confident to worship. Therefore, this antique bronze statue is famous far and wide from Thailand to foreign countries because there are many stories and experiences from users that those who have it, gun and knife can not eat their blood.

As for charming power, it is said to be second to none. From the experience of old people that have been told to their children from generation to generation. In the waist of playboys in ancient times, there was always this amulet tied around their waists. In those days, people hardly saw anyone hanging this amulet around their necks because people at that time believed that this kind of ancient statue was not an image of the Buddha but, it was a kind of amulet that is in the appearance of a male warrior. Probably for this reason, this type of ancient amulet is called by many names according to the experience of real users, such as Phra Chai Na Chang Ngang, Phra Ngang Ayutthaya, and Ai Ngang. Due to the above-mentioned beliefs that have been passed down from generation to generation, the magicians and magic masters brought the artistic design form of Phra Chai Ayutthaya to combine with the magic spells and made it out to be "Phra Ngang" in various models. Therefore, the characteristics between "Phra Chai Ayutthaya" and "Phra Ngang" are significantly similar.

The amazing things of this ancient amulet don't come from its universal function only, but, in terms of metal sculpture, it's the best. With the bronze casting technique that makes its metal skin surface as thin as an "Eggshell", which can be seen from the metal skin and the soil under the base almost being the same piece that even today's technology is still unable to do close to it. This bronze casting technique is considered the ultimate wisdom of the ancient people and that is still a mystery.

It is said that the secret of the bronze casting technique that makes this amulet have metal skin as thin as an egg shell is not only that the maker had to melt metals that are copper and tin as the main components to melt together at a temperature of not less than a thousand degrees but, the maker also added some special metal ore to reduce the viscosity of the metal so that the liquid metal could flow smoothly when pouring into the mold. Interestingly, the mold came from the technique of joining wax and clay figures with a special process to save metal in an era where smelting metal is not as easy as today. Moreover, the maker also made empty space for the triangle base with a specific meaning as well.

Another special identity of Phra Chai Ayutthaya is that every piece will have a different face. Therefore, each one has its own unique identity. Because it is the creation of an ancient amulet by making up a new clay mold for each piece, which is different from the creation of metallic amulets after the reign of King Rama IV until nowadays, where most of the molds are face-to-face type.

In addition, the clay body of Phra Chai also has its own unique characteristics. It is fine-grained hard soil. Most of them are completely black, hard, strong, not crumbling or separating into gravel. Passed through a special firing clay process with high heat which is quite different from the firing clay process that was used in the late Rattanakosin period onwards. For this reason, there are some legends that continue to be told that the clay body of Phra Chai Ayutthaya is not made from common soil but, it is a special soil that is mixed with many mystical substances and auspicious minerals. Later, it was discovered that some Phra Chai had embedded mineral substances that many believed to be "Leklai" inside as well. Overall, it is considered that Phra Chai Ayutthaya is a precious amulet that is worth conserving and worshiping.
