The image depicts a seated Buddha in the meditation posture (cross-legged), in the Mara Vichaya posture (subduing Mara). Luang Por Chamnan mentioned that this pose is when the Buddha called upon the Earth Goddess as a witness and defeated all the kings and armies of Mara. This depiction is thus called "Victory over Mara". The Lord of Mara cannot cause any harm, and this pose possesses its own power and efficacy. Following the example of the Buddha, the Lord of Mara and his minions are unable to do anything, as if they have been entirely defeated by all.
